My friend’s teenaged daughter had a flare-up,last week, and spent the day at home, poor thing, throwing up. Jessica Black, ND and I have this simple recipe to help replace electrolytes lost due to vomiting, and it tastes god, too!
2 cups filtered water
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon juice of 1 lemon
1/4 teaspoon pure (Vermont!) maple syrup
Directions: Mix all ingredients together and drink chilled or at room temperature.
This is a great alternative to many electrolyte preparations that have added sugar and food dyes, which are most likely very acidic. It is helpful in preventing dehydration during times of prolonged diarrhea or vomiting.
